More Foreign Leaders, Parties Congratulate CPC on National Congress

More foreign leaders and parties have sent congratulatory messages to the Communist Party of China (CPC) on the occasion of the convening of its 16th National Congress.

More foreign leaders and parties have sent congratulatory messages to the Communist Party of China (CPC) on the occasion of the convening of its 16th National Congress.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chaves said the CPC's 16th National Congress is of great significance to China's future development and progress and will enable China to make greater contributions to safeguarding world peace and developing countries' interests.

Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze, also honorary president of the Civic Union of Georgia, said in his congratulatory letter that he and the Georgian people are cordially happy with the remarkable achievements that China has scored.

He said he believed that the CPC's 16th National Congress will determine the strategy for China's future development and promote state prosperity and people's happiness, adding that China will play a more prominent role in keeping world peace and stability in the international arena.

Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, also chairman of the General People's Congress, said in his congratulatory letter that the convening of the CPC's 16th National Congress ushers in a new era of construction in China.

He also stressed that the convening of the meeting in the current changing international circumstances shows that the CPC has significant regional and international influences and plays a very important role in safeguarding world peace and security.

Djibouti's President Ismael Omar Guelleh said in a congratulatory telegram that the decisions to be made at the CPC's16th National Congress will promote prosperity and accelerate the pace of reform and opening-up in China, by which China will make more contributions to world peace and progress.

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, who is also leading the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, noted in her message that the 16th National Congress points out the way to reach the strategic target for developing China into a moderately developed nation in the middle of the 21st century.

Macedonian Prime Minister Branko Crvenkovski warmly congratulated the convening of the 16th National Congress and wished more success for the CPC and China in the courageous reform course.

Algerian Prime Minister Ali Benflis, also general secretary of the National Liberation Front, wished greater success for the CPC in leading China forward.

In a congratulatory message, Jose de Venecia, Philippines' house speaker and co-chairman of LAKAS-National Union of Christian Democrats-United Muslim Democrats of the Philippines-Kampi, on behalf of Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, said it is a crucial event for the Chinese people to realize their ambitious objectives.

Sierra Leone's People's Party, said in a message that the CPC's 16th National Congress, which marks a milestone in China's history, has demonstrated the Chinese people's resolve to build a wealthy, unified, modern and democratic country.

Pakistan Muslim League (Azhar) said in a message that the CPC has made great contributions to the cause of leading the Chinese people in country-building and the ongoing congress would mark a new start for the Chinese people to score greater achievements under the leadership of the CPC.

Vladimir Litvin, chairman of the Ukrainian Supreme Council, spoke highly of the CPC's policy of pushing forward reform and opening up while maintaining stability.

The Febrerista Revolutionary Party of Paraguay, in its message, wished great success for the CPC's 16th National Congress.

More friendly parties and their leaders in the world have sent congratulatory messages to the CPC on the occasion of the convening of its 16th National Congress.

These parties and leaders include the Democratic Revolutionary Party of Panama, General Secretary of the National Party of Honduras Carlos Gabriel Kattan, the People's National Party of Jamaica, Secretary-General of Sandinist National Liberation Front of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega Ssaavedra, President of Awami League (Hasina) of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina Wajed, the Functional Groups of Indonesia and the United National Party of Sri Lanka.
