Chinese Vice-premier Spends Holiday with Coal Miners
Chinese vice-premier Wen Jiabao paid New Year calls to the coal miners in Fuxin city, northeast China's Liaoning Province, at Friday night, the eve of the Chinese lunar new year, which falls on Feb.1 to Feb. 7.

Accompanied by local officials, Wen went down into a 720-meter-deep coal mine, talking with workers in the transformer substation,water pump substation and control center.
Wen also took tramcar to visit workers in the mining sites and extend the season's greetings to them.
Wen shared "dumplings" for dinner with the coal miners, expressing his gratitude to the miners for the great contributions they had made to China's modernization drive.
He urged his entourage of local officials to improve safety in coal mines and to show more concern for the construction of coal mines and the miners' quality of life.
When visiting the miners' homes, Wen said the local government should carry out the social security policies to help those who are in poor living conditions.
Wen paid New Year calls to villagers of Mongolian ethnic group in Fuxin as well on Saturday.
In his talking with the villagers, the vice-premier said that China would take more efforts to develop agriculture and the ruraleconomy, as well as educational, scientific, cultural and health sectors in rural areas, so as to build a comparatively well-off society in an all-round way.
