10th NPC Decides to Set up Nine Special Committees

The second plenary meeting of the First Session of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC), convened Thursday, decided to set up nine special committees under the Tenth NPC.

The second plenary meeting of the First Session of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC), convened Thursday, decided to set up nine special committees under the Tenth NPC.

The nine special committees are: the Ethnic Affairs Committee, the Law Committee, the Committee for Internal and Judicial Affairs, the Financial and Economic Committee, the Education, Science, Culture and Health Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee, the Environment and Resources Protection Committee and the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee.

The Ninth NPC had the same committees.

Thursday's meeting also decided on a namelist of the chairman, vice-chairmen and members of the 10th NPC Financial and Economic Committee, and Fu Zhihuan was selected as the chairman of the committee.

The chairman, vice-chairmen and members of another eight special committees will be decided on later during the current 10th NPC First Session.

The NPC special committees are subjected to the leadership by the NPC and its Standing Committee. Their main functions are to study, deliberate and examine and formulate the relevant motions set forth by lawmakers.
