Hong Kong to Bid for 2009 East Asian Games
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of China, who failed in bidding for the 2006 Asian Games, will vie for the hosting rights of the 2009 East Asian Games, local reports said here on Thursday.
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of China, who failed in bidding for the 2006 Asian Games, will vie for the hosting rights of the 2009 East Asian Games, local reports said here on Thursday.
It was reported that other bidding cities are from Mongolia andChinese Taipei.
Sources from the East Asian Games Federation (EAGF) said that the host city will be decided in a EAGF meeting this November.
It was also reported that Hong Kong has already submitted application for the bid for the Games.
The East Asian Games was launched in 2003 by eight countries and regions including China, Japan, South Korea, DPR Korea, Chinese Taipei, Guam, Mongolia, Macao of China and Hong Kong of China.
The fourth East Asian Games will be held in Macao of China in October, 2005.
