Libya Accepts Responsibility for 1988 Jet Bombing

Libya officially accepted on Friday responsibilities for the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, in a letter to the United Nations Security Council.

Libya officially accepted on Friday responsibilities for the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, in a letter to the United Nations Security Council.

In the letter, Libya also pledged to renounce terrorism in all its forms and will cooperate fully with the investigators in the probe of the bombing, which killed 270 people.

Britain and the United States also handed their letters to the Security Council, saying that Libya has met conditions to lift UN sanctions against Libya imposed in 1992 and 1993.
