Beijing Hyundai Motor Co. has adjusted its production goals for 2003, from 100,000 to 150,000 vehicles.
Liu Jin, a public relations spokesperson, said that the second phase of the company's expansion project had been carried out swiftly and would be finished and put into production by the end of the year.
The second phase of the expansion project requires constructionof a plant for production of engines and four other workshops for pressing, body work paint and assembly.
Completion of the second phase of the expansion project will lay a solid foundation for Beijing Hyundai to meet the goal of producing 550,000 motor vehicles by 2010, said Liu.
Currently, the company is capable of making 50,000 automobiles.
Beijing Hyundai turned out more than 22,500 automobiles and sold some 20,650 in the first half of the year, accounting for 2.5percent and 2.6 percent of the national total, respectively.
