Art show marks founding anniversary of new China

An exhibition of paintings and calligraphy by Chinese artist Han Fu opened Wednesday to mark the 54th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

An exhibition of paintings and calligraphy by Chinese artist Han Fu opened Wednesday to mark the 54th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Gu Xiulian, vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, attended the opening ceremony.

More than 100 of Han Fu's works are on show.

Han Fu was born in 1965 in central China's Hubei Province and began to learn calligraphy at the age of two and painting at eight.

Han Fu's art works are appreciated by many Chinese state leaders and renowned artists. Many of his works are collected by organizations all over the world.

Wang Yunze, vice-president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, said the show would promoteinternational exchanges and cooperation.
