The MicroProcessor R&D Center of Peking University and Agilent Technologies, a leading semi-conductor testing resolution provider, jointly announced in Beijing on October 31 that the Beida Zhongzhi--863 CPU system chip, the biggest of its kind in China which has the nation's own intellectual property, has successfully passed testing at the Agilent 93000 testing system.

As a state key project in the area of integrated circuit, the Beida Zhongzhi--863 CPU system chip is jointly developed by the Beida Zhongzhi Microsystem Corporation and the MicroProcessor R&D Center of Peking University. It is used on computers on high-speed and high-reliable network environment, serving for e-business, enterprise informalization, education informalization, and so on. The system houses 8 million transistors and all the central part of integrated circuits are self-made and live up to industrial standards.

As one of China's most sophisticatedly designed chip, the system requires much technological conditions for its testing, said professor Cheng Xu, director of the R&D Center. The professional team of Agilent not only met these demands but also helped in harmonizing industrial chain resources.
