Chinese woman weightlifter sets three world records

Chinese weightlifter Shang Shichun from Liaoning Province has set three world records in the women's 75-kilo division at the World Weightlifting Championships in Vancouver, Canada.

Chinese weightlifter Shang Shichun from Liaoning Province has set three world records in the women's 75-kilo division at the World Weightlifting Championships in Vancouver, Canada.

She broke records in the snatch, clean and jerk and total weight, all set last year by another Chinese weightlifter Sun Ruiping.

24-year-old Shang Shichun won the overall title with a snatch record of 120 kilos, a clean and jerk record of 153 kilos and a total weight of 273 kilos. She had consecutive successes through six rounds of lifting.

Chinese weightlifters have so far won 18 gold metals in the World Championships, which opened last Saturday.

Chinese Olympic champion Ding Meiyuan will participate in the above 75-kilo class on Saturday. (CRI)
