Beijing ranks 3rd among 5 big cities in disposable income
Latest statistics released by Beijing Statistics Bureau on Feb. 4 show that in 2003 the disposable income per capita of Beijing city residents is 13,882.6 yuan, ranking third among the five cities of Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing and Guangzhou.

According to the statistics, Beijingers' income per capita ranks the middle among the most five competent metroplises, following Guangzhou and Shanghai. Guangzhou ranks the top with 15,002.5 yuan income per capita; Shanghai, the second, 14, 867.5 yuan; Tianjin, the fourth, 10,313 yuan; Chongqing, the last, 8,093.7 yuan.
Compared with the previous year, there was an increase of about 11 percent in the disposable income of city dwellers in Beijing: 18-percentage-point increase in the salary per capita; 12.7 percentage points in transferred income per capita; 1.1 times in property income per capita. As affected by the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), the net income per capita dropped by 7.4 percentage points.
What is worth mentioning is, pushed by the various policies, the income of the group with low-income in Beijing is gradually rising. In 2003, 10 percent of the group have a disposable income per capita of 6174.2 yuan, 7.6 percentage points higher than the previous year.
In terms of the structure of the income, there was a steady increase in the income of households with low-income, a decrease in property income and a quickened rise in transferred income. In the transferred income, the per capita pension increased 9.2 percentage points; the per capita support and gift income increased about 44 percent and the per capita social aid income 2.1 times.
