Another meeting will be held next week to prepare for an much-expected summit between Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei and his Israeli counterpart Ariel Sharon, a senior Palestinian leader announced Tuesday.
Palestinian cabinet secretary general Hassan Abu Lebda will meetwith Dove Weizglass, Sharon's bureau chief, next week to make preparation for the summit, Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat told reporters.
This will be the last preparatory meeting before the summit is due to be held on Feb. 20, as Palestinian Foreign Minister Nabil Shaath had earlier announced, Erekat added.
Meanwhile, Erekat disclosed that Qurei had begun his tour in several European countries, trying to court support for the Palestinians' stance towards the separation fence and an unilateraldisengagement plan announced by Sharon.
The aim of the diplomatic move "is also to earn support for the resumption of the peace process and the implementation of the roadmap plan for peace in the Middle East," said Erekat.
