LONDON, March 14 -- British Foreign Secretary William Hague on Friday said it would be "formidably difficult" for U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov to make headway in their London talks on deescalating the Ukraine crisis, Britain's local media reported Friday.

Hague made the remarks after having separate talks with the officials from the two sides, according to Sky News report.

At the beginning of the talks, Lavrov highlighted the difficulties facing the talks, describing the crisis as a "very difficult situation."

Meanwhile, Kerry said he looked forward to resolving differences between the U.S. and Russia in the talks.

"Obviously we have a lot to talk about and look forward to an opportunity to dig in to the issues and possibilities that we may be able to find about how to move forward together to resolve some of the differences between us," Kerry said.
