BISHKEK, March 17 -- Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev said Monday that his country is ready to assist Malaysia in search of missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

Atambayev made the remarks during a telephone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, according to a statement from the presidential press service.

Najib asked Atambayev to assist the search and provide all information that can be used in determining the route of movement of the Boeing 777 aircraft, said the statement.

The Malaysian leader, added the statement, said one of the possible routes for the missing plane passes through the air space of Kyrgyzstan.

Atambayev expressed readiness to offer help, adding that the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Air Defense Forces will provide all necessary information for the Malaysian side.

The president also conveyed his sympathies with relatives of MH370 crew and passengers, saying he looks forward to positive results of the search.

The Boeing 777 plane vanished from radar in the wee hours of March 8 while carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew members from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. An intensive multinational search has so far failed to determine its whereabouts.
