From 10 million units in 2011, to 7 million units last year, and then to 6.3 million units this year, the number of new indemnificatory apartment started declining. Does it mean that the government's efforts on indemnificatory apartment construction decreased?
Zhu Zhongyi, vice secretary-general of the China Real Estate Association, said that behind the decrease in the figures is the fact that indemnificatory apartment construction is becoming more scientific, pragmatic, and is expanding coverage.
Zhu said that although the number of newly started indemnificatory apartment projects is decreasing, the number of indemnificatory apartment projects under construction in the past few years is in fact increasing.
There will be more than 17 million units under construction this year, the biggest over the years. In this year's report, "4.7 million units complete construction" was placed ahead of "6.3 million units will start construction". This shows the government is putting great attention to ensure the progress and plan to form the effective supply as soon as possible, which is more pragmatic.
While China continues to increase indemnificatory apartment construction, it is also to increase efforts in the construction of supporting facilities this year. Zhu said "appropriate reduction in the number of newly started projects will help invest more money and efforts to improve the supporting facilities, so that people not only have house to live in, but also live better."
