China shares close higher Tuesday

BEIJING, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shares closed higher for the third straight day on Tuesday.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.60 percent, or 11.89 points, to end at 2,007.13. The Shenzhen Component Index climbed 0.65 percent, or 50.36 points, to 7,768.84.

The market reversed morning trade losses in the afternoon, driven by bargain hunting after a seven-day losing streak in late June.

Total turnover on the two bourses expanded to 172.5 billion yuan (27.91 billion U.S. dollars) from 103.15 billion yuan the previous trading day.

The aircraft manufacturing sector led Tuesday's gains, with the sub-index for the sector up 4.28 percent. China Avic Electronics Equipment Co., Ltd. rose 8.14 percent to 23.11 yuan per share. Sichuan Chengfa Aero-Science & Technology Co., Ltd. rose 7.85 percent to 10.44 yuan per share.
