One more Asian record fell here on Tuesday at the 12th Chinese National Games as Shandong swimmer Xin Xin won the women's 800-meter freestyle in eight minutes 19.43 seconds, 0.93 faster than the previous record 8:20.30 held by her teammate Chen Qian.

Her winning mark was also the world fifth fastest time of the year, which could ranked the fourth at the Barcelona World Championships.

"It's out of my expectation," said Xin, who made a good debut at the National Games. "But I felt quite normal. I changed my coach after the Olympic Games and I made big progress in both speed and technique."

The world record of the 800m free was created by American Kathleen Ledecky of 8:13.86 at Barcelona.

Zhang Yuhan of Chinese Army and Zhejiang's Birong came second and third with 8:21.22 and 8:24.35 respectively.

The 20-year-old Ning Zetao of Chinese Army dominated the men's 50m free final. Ning, who cracked the Asian record of the event with a 21.91 in heats, won the title in 21.96.

Zhejiang's Lu Zhiwu and Shanghai's Shi Yang touched in at the same time 22.30.

World champ Zhao Jing claimed her first gold at the National Games Tuesday with a 200m back title. The 100m back runner-up touched in 2:07.94, the sixth fastest time of the year.

Hunan's Liao Yali ranked second in 2:08.37, while medley specialist Ye Shiwen came third in 2:09.62.

"The time was within 2:10 and I am happy with it," said the Olympic 200m and 400m individual medley champion. "I was tired after the World Championships but I lost some weight during the training in Kunming."

Butterfly specialist Zhou Jiawei of Guangdong, at the age of 30 and the oldest swimmer at the Games, claimed the men's 100m fly title for the consecutive fourth time at 51.88. Shanghai's Shifeng trailed in 51.99, while veteran Wu Peng was third in 52.10. The 100m fly world 10th time of the year is 51.66.
