The International Food Packaging Association recently released the 2013 China Food Packaging Safety Report to enhance the vigilance of consumers and related government agencies against certain food packaging.

Straws:

You should choose transparent straws. According to national standards, food-grade plastic used to make straws does not smell, and if it smells, it may be made from waste plastic. Don't use disposable straws, and buy transparent and individually wrapped straws with the QS mark.

Bottle caps:

You should wipe the bottle top after opening it, because dust or bacteria may pollute the bottle top and cause disease. Therefore, you'd better pour bottled drink into a cup before drinking, or wipe the bottle top with disinfection tissues. Don't drink bottled drinks that are contaminated or those caps show signs of moldy.
