Fang Fenghui meets with chief of Royal Australian Navy

BEIJING, August 23 (ChinaMil) – Gen. Fang Fenghui, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with Vice Admiral Raymond Griggs, the visiting chief of the Royal Australian Navy, on the morning of August 22, 2013 in Beijing.

Fang Fenghui said the relations between the Chinese and Australian militaries have been maintaining a good momentum of development in recent years, as evidenced by significant results in such fields as high-level reciprocal visits, defense consultations and exchanges in professional fields. The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Australian side to deepen pragmatic exchanges, strengthen maritime coordination and cooperation, and jointly maintain maritime security and regional peace and stability, in the light of establishing a strategic partnership featuring mutual trust and mutual benefit as determined by the heads of the two countries.

Raymond Griggs said the two militaries have carried out good exchanges and cooperation. He hoped that the visit would further expand exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two militaries, especially those between the two navies, so as to push forward the development of the relations between the two militaries.
