Red light fatalities

A total of 243 traffic accidents that caused injury or death occurred from January to October this year because someone ran a red light, local police said Sunday, the first national day for road safety.

Among the 56 fatalities that occurred over the period, 32 people died in accidents involving motor vehicles. The other 24 deaths were caused by non-motor vehicles.

Four people died in 22 traffic accidents involving vehicles disregarding road signs over the same period.
