Explosion reported in central China chemical plant, casualties unknown

WUHAN, July 10 (Xinhua) -- An unknown number of people were reported injured in a chemical plant blast in central China's Hubei Province on Wednesday, but the details of the blast and number of casualties were not immediately known, local authorities said.

The blast occurred at around noon at a biochemical plant in Suizhou City, sources with the city's fire-fighting department said.

The department has mobilized more than 100 fire fighters to the scene.
