On September 3, Chinese president Xi Jinping goes on his third international trip. During the first, the world waited to see China's top leader make his debut on the international stage. During the second, the world waited to see how Xi Jinping would deal with relations between new power China and the United States in California. In the course of his third trip, Xi Jinping will visit four central Asian states, and attend the G20 summit and the Shanghai cooperation organization heads of state council meeting. This third trip will generate three major international expectations.

Firstly, it will strengthen the new confidence in China's economy. For many years now China's economy has grown faster than any of the other G20 countries; on this occasion China brings to the G20 summit the most positive influences on global economic governance and world economic growth.

Secondly, this will launch a "golden decade" of relations between China and central Asia. Peace, stability, and development in the region are core concerns to China's national interests, national development strategy, and national security strategy. Central Asia occupies a key position in China's peripheral diplomatic strategy.

Thirdly, it will strengthen security cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Cooperation in matters of security and the economy are considered to be the two cornerstones of SCO evolution, and security is the established base and the main driving force behind the organization.

Xi’s third visit is another major step in building a comprehensive diplomatic strategy for China. The 10-day trip will cover the four key elements that embody China’s strategic, overall and innovative diplomacy in the new situation: dealing with relations between major powers, expanding foreign friendships, strengthening cooperation with developing countries, and leading multilateral diplomacy. If Xi’s first two trips gave the world a sense of something new and fresh for China's diplomacy, then this third trip will give the world a new understanding of China's foreign strategy. The expectations created by Xi Jinping’s trip will encourage benevolent interaction between China and the rest of the world.
