JAKARTA, Feb. 28 -- China will boost ties with Indonesia which was upgraded to comprehensive strategic partnership last year, chief of the Chinese embassy in Indonesia said on Friday.

Liu Hongyang, charge d'affaires of the embassy, said that among the bilateral engagement this year was the first economic dialogue between deputy ministerial officials.

"The dialogue was intended to increase volume of trade and investment between the two countries," Liu told a press briefing at the embassy, adding that Chinese investors have taken Indonesia seriously due to its huge business and market potential.

"This year Chinese government will set up a Chinese cultural center in Indonesia," Liu said, adding that the center would promote people-to-people contact.

He added that China also planned to grant a pair of panda to Indonesia as soon as possible.
