China Commends National Day Gala Participants

The CPC Central Committee and the State Council have issued a memo to commend units and people participating in the 50th National Day gala and its preparations.

October 1 this year marked the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Beijing held a military parade, mass procession and grand ceremony on Tian'anmen Square in honor of the event.

The memo, issued on October 4, says that the military parade demonstrated the capability of China's military force to safeguard the safety of the country as well as China's desire to promote world peace and development. The mass procession reflected the great achievement made by the Chinese people over the past five decades under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin at its core.

Under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, all celebration activities were undertaken by the Leading Group and the Preparatory Committee of Celebrations for the 50th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, which have been working since May last year.

The memo also offers high praise for soldiers and other gala participants who devoted their time, energy and enthusiasm to the parade.

The departments who prepared for the achievement exhibition honoring the 50th anniversary have pushed the exhibition to an unprecedented high level, it says.

"The success of the celebration activity is closely related to the efficient work of the Beijing Municipal government," it says.

It also calls for all the Chinese people to learn from those National Day gala participants, and closely unite around the CPC central committee, with Jiang Zemin at its core, hold highly the banner of Deng Xiaoping Theory, and march toward the trans-century lofty goals. (Xinhua)
