The Gansu Acrobatic Troupe of China left for India Sunday morning after concluding its friendly performance tour in the Maldives.

During its four-day visit, the troupe gave three performances to more than 1,500 spectators in the Maldives. Among those who watched the performance on Friday were the Maldivian President Maumoom Abdul Gayoom and his wife, Minister of Information, Arts and Culture Ibrahim Maniku and Minister of Housing Abddul Hussain as well as other Maldivian officials.

Impressed by the performance of the Chinese acrobatic troupe, many spectators said the visit will further strengthen the cordial relations between the Maldives and China. A Maldivian artist said that the performances showed the new achievements made by the Chinese people in art and culture in the past 50 years.

The troupe's leader Su Guo-qing told Xinhua that the visit was very successful in introducing Chinese culture and art to the Maldives and promoting understanding between the peoples of the two countries.

The 25-member troupe has already visited Pakistan and Sri Lanka before coming to the Maldives on Wednesday, and will go on to visit India and Nepal.
