Culture Hong Kong's Medicare Team Arrives in Guizhou for Treatment

Hong Kong's medical care team arrived November 25 morning in Zunyi in the southwest province of Guizhou Province with its second train of cataract treatment specialists.

The team will treat more than 1,400 cataract patients from poor areas within the next two months. The Hong Kong team has allocated 100 sickbeds from a local hospital. Eight doctors and 20 nurses from the hospital will also join the Hong Kong team.

The three-carriage train comes replete with telecommunications systems, medical and video-teaching equipment. People from all walks of life in Hong Kong have donated 50 million yuan for this project offering free treatment for cataract sufferers in rural areas in the mainland since 1997.
