World Chinese, Cambodian Premiers Satisfied With Bilateral Ties

Visiting Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji and his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen expressed their satisfaction with the smooth development of the bilateral relations in Manila on November 27.

At their meeting here, Hun Sen expressed the hope that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries will develop forever.

Zhu congratulated Hun Sen on the remarkable achievements Cambodia's new government has scored in both domestic and foreign affairs, expressing his best wishes for the national reconciliation, political stability, smooth economic development and people's happiness in Cambodia.

Recalling Hun Sen's visit to Beijing last February, Zhu said progress has been made in carrying out a number of projects of economic cooperation and trade agreed upon during the visit.

The two premiers are in Manila to attend the 3rd informal summit between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its dialogue partners of China, Japan and South Korea, which is scheduled for Sunday.

ASEAN, founded in 1967, groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
