MOSCOW, June 24 -- Sino-Russian relations have shown dynamic potential for positive growth as comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination between the two countries enters a new stage, said Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi said. Yang made the statement when he met with Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko Tuesday in Moscow, Russia. He also said the cooperation between noncontiguous regions of the two countries should be strengthened for a win-win deal. Yang and Mikhail Babich, Russia's presidential representative to the Volga Federal District, co-chaired the forum on cooperation between regions along the Yangtze and Volga rivers in the Russian city of Samara in the southwest. The forum is seen as a step to implement the consensus reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin at a conference held in Shanghai last month. Greater efforts should be made to expand cooperation in this regard and to promote common prosperity, according to Yang. Yang also said China is willing to carry out strategic cooperation with Russia in a closer, more thorough and profound way, and to work together toward improving the national strength of both countries, promoting world and regional peace, stability and development. Matviyenko said developing Russian-China strategic coordination is the priority of her country's diplomacy. She also said that Russia stands ready to keep high-level exchange between the two countries and is also determined to advance exchange between branches of legislature from both countries and to expand cooperation in wider fields, in addition to improving strategic coordination in international affairs.
