SEOUL, July 11 -- South Korea's Unification Ministry said Friday that Seoul proposed to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) holding working-level talks next Thursday to discuss details about Pyongyang's participation in the upcoming Asian Games.

The ministry said in a statement that it sent a notice in the name of chairman of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games' organizing committee at about 5:10 p.m. local time through the liaison office in the border village of Panmunjom.

Through the notice, Seoul made a proposal, calling for Pyongyang to hold the working-level dialogue on July 17 at the Peace House, the administrative building on the South Korean side of Panmunjom.

On Wednesday, the DPRK offered to hold such talks on July 15 over Pyongyang's participation in the 17th Asian Games to be held in the South Korea's western port city of Incheon from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4.

Pyongyang has announced its plan to dispatch some 150 athletes to the Asiad along with a large cheering squad.

During the talks, the two sides were expected to discuss on various issues, including DPRK delegation's expenditure and whether the two teams will march together at the opening ceremony.
