Well-preserved female corpse from Ming Dynasty found

By Yin Xiaohong (People's Daily Online)    09:44, November 01, 2016

Recently, a female corpse from around 500 years ago was unearthed in Jingzhou, Hubei province. According to some experts, the well-preserved corpse is in such good condition thanks to the thick coat of lime and glutinous rice paste outside the coffin. There were also herbs and jujubes found on the bottom of the coffin. The corpse is now immersed in a protective solution. Its clothing will be sealed in bags and preserved in a low-temperature environment for future studies.

An official from the local cultural relics office said that the finding is quite meaningful for the study of funeral customs, costumes and burial traditions in this area during the Ming Dynasty.
