BEIJING, Oct. 23 -- Chinese courts had concluded 194,000 graft cases in their first trials, implicating 207,000 people, from the beginning of 2014 to June 2019, said Zhou Qiang, president of the Supreme People's Court.

The defendants included 140 former centrally-administrated officials, said Zhou while giving a report on strengthening criminal trials at the ongoing bimonthly session of the National People's Congress Standing Committee.

A total of 14,000 people had been convicted for offering bribes during the same period, said the report, adding efforts have also been intensified to address corruption that occurs on the people's doorsteps and those found in poverty alleviation.
