Xi's speech at import expo shows China's resolve to further open up: senior official

SHANGHAI, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- President Xi Jinping's keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the second China International Import Expo demonstrates China's confidence and resolve to open up further, Huang Kunming, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said here Tuesday.

Addressing a parallel session of the second Hongqiao International Economic Forum, Huang, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, said Xi's speech also underscores China's strong sense of responsibility to work with the international community to build an open global economy and a community with a shared future for humanity.

In his Tuesday speech at the expo, Xi presented a prospect of jointly building an open world economy through cooperation, with innovation and for mutual benefits and outlined China's opening-up policies in the next step.

Since the founding of the People's Republic of China 70 years ago, the country has not only achieved its own development, but also brought more opportunities and vitality to the world, Huang noted.

He expressed hope that think tanks and media institutions could be advocates of world peace and development, disseminators of the concept of win-win cooperation, contributors to reform and innovation and promoters of common progress for mankind so as to contribute to the building of a community with a share future for humanity.

Featuring the topic of China's 70-year development and the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, the parallel session attracted more than 400 people from think tanks and media circles in over 100 countries and regions.
