Obama’s second presidential term will be challenging (2)

(People's Daily Online)

17:02, November 14, 2012

First, Obama plans to vigorously recommend the Congress to complete the deficit reduction talks, and avoid any occurrence of "financial cliff" at the end of this year and the beginning of the next. Second, he will implement the economic policy of tax increases to the wealthy group. In the field of social policy, universal health care bill will likely be slightly modified before implemented.

However, the implementation of the above policies will meet challenges. Both the House and the Senate have completed re-elections. The two parties will respectively hold their original positions. Obama will continue to face the situation of split Congress in the future and it will be hard to promote relevant bills.

Future of China-U.S. relation

The foreign policy of the "new" government of the United States and the China-U.S. relation also became a major concern. Experts generally believe that Obama's foreign policy in the second term will maintain continuity.

Some experts believe that China-U.S. relation will have a rough start but will ultimately turn for the better. In the early stage, collides between the two sides will be inevitable because the U.S. economy will still be fragile and recovering and because the Unite States always tends to restrain China with "American rules." In the next two years however, the economic situation is expected to improve and the relation between the two sides will gradually ease up.

Still other experts said that the Democrat and the Republican are alike and both regard China as an economic competitor, so recently the competitive aspect between the two countries will certainly rise. However, the trend of "both competition and cooperation" will not change.
