The AL delegation arrived in Lebanon on Saturday in a regional tour, which also includes Jordan and Iraq.

The Arab foreign ministers held an extraordinary meeting in Cairo on Jan. 13, upon a request of Lebanon to discuss the overall situation of the Syrian refugees and decided to send the special delegation to the neighboring countries.

For his part, Lebanese Social Affairs Minister Wael Abou Faour said that Lebanon would ask the Kuwait conference for a sum of 370 million U.S. dollars to cover the needed expenses for 200,000 Syrian refugees for the period of a year, adding the actual number of refugees has exceeded that number.

According to the latest UN Higher Refugees Council, the number of Syrian refugees in Lebanon has hit 220,000.

Syria has been witnessing unrest since March 2011, with refugees fleeing to neighboring countries, including Lebanon, Iraq, and Jordan.
