Myanmar releases some 93 prisoners

YANGON, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar government Tuesday released some 93 more prisoners including three foreigners under a fresh amnesty order of the president.

The prisoners, pardoned a week after the fall of Myanmar new year, include prisoners of conscience, according to local media.

The president office's order said the move was made in view of ensuring peace and stability and lasting peace of the state, national reconciliation, inclusiveness in political process and turning the prisoners to ones who take their fair shares in state building.

In November 2012, 518 prisoners including 31 foreigners were released under the last two amnesty orders of the president.

A total of 29,668 prisoners have been pardoned since the new civilian government took office on March 30, 2011.
