Nikkei opens slightly higher, briefly hitting 11,000

TOKYO, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Nikkei opened slightly higher on Monday on the yen's slide, helping the market briefly hit 11,000, the highest level since April 2010.

At 9: 15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 7.91 points, or 0.07 percent, from Friday to 10,934.56.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 1.93 points, or 0.21 percent, to 919. 02.
