BEIJING, Jan. 21 -- The discipline organ of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Tuesday called for further carrying out of the "mass line" campaign to enhance ties with the people.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) held a meeting on Tuesday to convey the spirit of another meeting the day before about the campaign. Wang Qishan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and secretary of the CCDI, presided.

In a conference on plans for the second phase of the campaign on Monday, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping urged the Party to capitalize on its learnings from the first phase, solving problems concerning people's immediate interests and improving work styles in the grassroots so as to benefit the people.

The CCDI said in a statement that the Party's discipline organ had achieved results in the first phase of the "mass line" campaign.

The initiative was launched in June 2013, with the aim of making government more accessible to the general population, while cleaning up four undesirable work styles -- formalism, bureaucracy, hedonism and extravagance.

The CCDI stressed that the discipline organ should enhance its role of inspection, and implement the central authorities' regulations curbing the undesirable work styles, in a bid to prevent any restoration.

The CCDI also reiterated the call for solutions to problems that undermine the interests of the masses. It also urged discipline organs around China to strictly implement the central authorities' regulations.

The meeting held that the discipline organ will take a serious attitude to carry out the second phase of the campaign, and improve its capabilities to fight corruption and build a clean Party and government.
