TAIPEI, Feb. 11 -- Taiwan's mainland affairs chief Wang Yu-chi set off on Tuesday morning for a four-day visit to the Chinese mainland, leading a 20-strong delegation.

At Taiwan's Taoyuan International Airport, Wang said his visit aims at enhancing understanding and exchanging ideas between the mainland and the island.

He said the visit marks a hard-won achievement as a result of improved cross-Strait ties since 2008.

Wang's delegation, at the invitation of Zhang Zhijun, head of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, will visit Nanjing, capital city of Jiangsu Province, and Shanghai between Feb. 11 and 14.
