Chinese peacekeeping officers and men to Darfur win Peace Medal of Honor

The United Nations (UN) granted the Peace Medals of Honor to a total of 315 officers and men of the 7th Chinese peacekeeping engineering group to Sudan's Darfur and the Outstanding Contribution Award to the 7th Chinese peacekeeping engineering group to Sudan's Darfur on January 24, 2013, local time.

Patrick Nyamvumba, commander of the UN-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), reviewed the 7th Chinese peacekeeping engineering group to Sudan's Darfur and granted the medals to the officers and men.

Since its deployment to the mission area in July of 2012, the 7th Chinese peacekeeping engineering group to Sudan’s Darfur has successively completed a total of more than 20 projects including the construction of the administration office in the south Darfur theatre, the exploration and drilling of water wells and the expansion of the China-Sudan Friendship Primary School. All the engineering projects were granted the UN High Engineering Quality Certificate.
