(Xinhua)

"After the night of Dec. 21, 2012, the earth will be submerged in darkness for three consecutive days." Recently, rumors of doomsday fermented in Longchang county, Neijiang city, Sichuan Province. Citizens believing the rumor were buying white candles and matches in a panic from the local market, causing white candles to be sold out. The rumor began to spread everywhere in Longchang county about a week ago. All people were talking about it and different versions were developed. Regarding this, experts said that everyone with a little basic scientific knowledge should know the occurrence of three consecutive days' darkness is impossible.
