Bird flu test paper in clinical trial

French biotechnology company bioMerieux, which makes diagnostic products for HIV and hepatitis B testing, said it is developing a bird flu test paper that can give result in 20 to 30 minutes.

The instant test paper is now in clinical trial and is likely to be approved by China's State Food and Drug Administration, the company said in Shanghai today.

bioMerieux said it will expand its Shanghai subsidiary this year to gear up the production of new diagnostic products.

The company's Shanghai facility started operation in 2010. It combines production and research.
