A man has been detained for snapping photos of women in the stalls of a public bathroom in Qingpu district, police said Tuesday.

The suspect, surnamed Sun, got caught after a woman surnamed Liu noticed someone holding a mobile phone underneath a partition separating the men's and women's sections of a public restroom on Xianghuaqiao Street last month, according to the Xinmin Evening News. The partition did not extend to the floor of the restroom.

Liu left the bathroom in time to see a skinny man in dark clothes running away. She reported the incident to police, telling officers that the phone was a Nokia housed in a red case.

Police posted an undercover officer at the bathroom, who noticed the suspect hanging around outside, checking a red mobile phone from time to time. When a woman entered the bathroom, he would go into the men's room.

Police took the man into custody and found photos of different women, many of which contained nudity, on his phone.
