COPENHAGEN, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Visiting top Chinese political adviser Yu Zhengsheng met here Thursday with Danish leaders and urged the two sides to strengthen cooperation in green technology and other areas.

Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), is to wrap up his 4-day official visit to the Nordic country on Friday.

China, faced with the important task of realizing green growth, and Denmark, boasting advanced technologies, ideologies and experience in this area, enjoy huge cooperation potential, Yu said when meeting with Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt.

On China-Denmark relations, Yu said Denmark is one of the first Western countries to have established diplomatic ties with China and the two countries have long maintained friendly cooperation.

China, Yu said, appreciates Denmark for its support for China's Arctic Council observership and its opposition to the European Commission's anti-dumping probes against Chinese photovoltaic (PV) products.

On China-EU ties, Yu said the two sides are each other's important cooperation partner, and should always handle their differences and disputes properly through dialogue and consultation.

He also expressed the hope that Denmark will continue to support China on relevant issues.

For her part, Thorning-Schmidt said Denmark-China cooperation is extensive and fruitful and the Danish parliament and public have a broad consensus on deepening the bilateral cooperation.

Denmark, she added, firmly seeks to develop the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and hopes to maintain frequent high-level exchanges and expand practical cooperation in such fields as clean technology and renewable energy.

The EU-China relationship is one of the most important bilateral relationships around the world, she said, suggesting that the two sides strengthen constructive dialogue on the basis of equality and mutual respect.

Denmark is committed to free and fair trade, opposes the European Commission's anti-dumping probes against Chinese PV products, and hopes that the two sides will resolve relevant issues via consultation, she said.
