In a village in Zheng'an County of Zunyi City, southwest China's Guizhou Province, live 300 Li families all of whom can perform Yang Opera. A type of Nuo Opera, Yang Opera of Li Family was first performed in Tang Dynasty.
The Yang Opera of Li Family has integrated the local Nuo Opera together with lanterns. All performers are local people speaking local dialect and dancing folk dance.
Li Tianxing, 79, is the 13th generation inheritor of the Yang Opera of Li Family. He said that the Yang Opera was brought to Zunyi by their ancestor Li Faxian from Jiangxi province in Tang Dynasty. Only Li Family members can learn to perform the opera. Li Gang, Li Tianxing's son, is the 14th generation inheritor.
