After giant panda Meixi was sent back to Sichuan Province, Sijia has become the only panda left behind in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province. Sijia has started to behave abnormally recently and shows signs of depression. Workers at the park installed many play facilities to cheer it up.

Sijia is one of the three pandas placed in foster care at Yunnan Wild Animal Park after the Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008. The China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP) in Wolong National Natural Reserve in Sichuan province was damaged seriously during the quake.
