To further standardize the management of its collection of institutions designed to provide services to unsupported seniors, Lhasa has hired a total of 168 people to manage the entire system as full-time professionals, with a view to strengthening the management of those nursing homes in various respects, including food services, life care, medical care, and sanitation, and ensuring that the senior are cared for and given necessary medical services.

At each and every one of the sanatoriums and nursing homes in Lhasa we have visited the staff members look after the senior like their loved ones. When it comes to life care, the staff fully considers the senior's habits in daily life, and when allocating resources to them, tries to take into consideration each senior's characteristics, including temperament, while ensuring that their needs are fully met; when it comes to food services, the senior are offered delicious, clean foods, and the food plan is refreshed on a weekly basis, so that the staple foods are diverse, the non-staple ones are sufficient to provide the needed nutrients, and no dish is repeated in any single day. When the weather is bad, the staff will deliver the prepared food to the dormitory, and when any senior falls sick, the cooking staff will prepare food that suits the taste of the sick, and life care will also be provided around the clock. In addition to changing their bedding and other bedclothes regularly, the staff will organize the seniors for physical tests so as to detect and cure medical conditions in time. Many senior residents say, "Our nursing home has a nice environment, and offers considerate services. It is indeed the home of happiness of ours."

At present, Lhasa has been placing social welfare efforts as its core content to provide a safety net to its people, speeding up its strategy of building a harmonious city through improved welfare. In fact, about 95% of the city's unsupported seniors are included in the welfare system.
