China’s EMU Train Passes High Speed Test at 385 KPH

A standard Electricity multiple unit (EMU) train, on which China owns the independent intellectual property rights, hit a speed of 385 kilometers per hour and passed the high speed test on the railway from Datong to Xi'an in north China, on November 18.

Designed and manufactured by CSR Qingdao Sifang Co., LTD, the train was tested with most complicated road conditions, including bridges, tunnels, a slope with maximum gradient of 3% and a turn with a radius of 8 km. According to Liang Jianying, the chief engineer of CSR Qingdao Sifang Company, the train performed excellently in every index and has met all design requirements.

Before this, the train has passed a low speed test of under 160 kph. After all tests are finished by February, 2016, the train will be launched into a 600,000 km railway to take its maiden ride.
