SHANGHAI, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Volunteer training for the upcoming second China International Import Expo (CIIE) started Friday.

A total of 5,720 volunteers have been recruited for the expo, said authorities responsible for the CIIE volunteer work at the Shanghai Committee of Chinese Communist Youth League.

The volunteer total outnumbers that of last year and nearly 20 percent of recruits volunteered at the first CIIE.

It is estimated that the total number will continue to grow and over 6,000 volunteers will offer service at the expo.

The training, which will focus on basic knowledge of the expo, business and commerce, medical assistance, garbage sorting and cultural differences, will last until late October.

Over 3,000 enterprises from about 150 countries and regions have signed up for this year's CIIE, scheduled for Nov. 5 to 10 in Shanghai, including more than 250 of the world's leading companies.
