Vehicles move on the snow-covered Beijing-Tibet expressway in Beijing, capital of China, on
Nov. 4, 2012. The capital city had witnessed snowfall and sleet since Saturday night as
cold current swept north China and dropped temperature. Local meteorological authorities issued an orange alert of blizzard, the second-highest level of the four-tier color-coded warning system on snowstorms. (Xinhua/Wang Xuhui)

Beijing’s meteorological authority issued a blue warning for cold on Friday. An orange warning for blizzard was issued on Sunday. Many people felt the warning was quite helpful.

"It’s freezing cold today. But I’ve got the warning from the weather forecast ahead of time. And I prepared for the rain and cold.’’

The local meteorological authority has advised people to reduce outdoor actitvities. Transportation within the city has been smooth so far.
