Freezing sleet sweeps Beijing

A cold wave has hit northern parts of China, moving from west to the east. The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Hebei and Shanxi provinces have witnessed rain and snow. An early first snowfall of the season has fallen in Beijing.

Freezing rain and snow with strong wind have hit Beijing since Saturday. The temperature has dropped by about 8 degrees Celsius.
