What matters of children do parents usually interfere in? Over 78 percent of respondents voted for "relationship and marriage," followed by "choice of job or career" at over 60 percent, "choice of school" at nearly 60 percent, "choice of college major" at over 54 percent, "daily lives" at nearly 43 percent, and "parenting of grandchildren" at nearly 38 percent.

"If parents give too much care or set too many rules for their children in unnecessary aspects, children will be under considerable pressure, and feel that their lives have been overly interfered in," said Wu Guohong, an associate professor at Fudan University's Department of Psychology.
